Miranda Webster paints from observation, a process of concentrated looking and slow accumulation of detail.
This attention is focussed on the flaking paint of their studio window, a tabletop stained from years of creation, the creases and blemishes of their own flesh. Increasingly, sculptural objects and installations are crafted to become the subjects of paintings, exploring physical sensation, corporality, contact and tension.
Recent exhibitions include Voir en Peinture at Musée d’Art Moderne et contemporain des Sables-d’Olonne, Musée Estrine de Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, and Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dole, and Il faudrait que je me calme at Mendes Wood, Brussels
